Gerald “Gerry” L. Bracht

Gerry Bracht is a highly accomplished trial lawyer with more than five decades of experience representing clients in complex litigation matters across a wide range of industries and jurisdictions. At Gregor Wynne Arney, he brings a distinguished record of legal excellence,
strategic judgment, and leadership developed through a career spent primarily with major, multinational, Houston-based law firms.

A native Houstonian, Gerry graduated from Memorial High School before attending The University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with highest honors in 1973, receiving the Finance Faculty Award. He went on to obtain his Juris Doctor with high honors from The University of Texas School of Law in 1976, where he was inducted into the prestigious Order of the Coif.

Gerry’s litigation practice has spanned numerous subject matters in both state and federal courts, as well as appellate courts nationwide. His experience includes appearances in all Texas state and federal courts, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States. In addition to his client work, Gerry has served as General Counsel to his law firm, overseeing internal legal affairs and advising on risk management and governance issues.

Throughout his career, Gerry has been deeply engaged in the legal community. He has held leadership and service roles within the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association and has contributed to the profession through organizations such as the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, the Federal Bar Association, the American Judicature Society, and the Garland R. Walker American Inn of Court. He is a Life Member of both the Houston Bar Foundation and the Texas Bar Foundation and has previously served on the State Bar Grievance Committee, as well as on the Board of Directors of the Texas Young Lawyers Association. Gerry has also remained actively involved with The University of Texas School of Law, including service on the Executive Committee of its Alumni Association.

Outside of his practice, Gerry enjoys an active lifestyle that includes hiking, biking, golf, fishing, and hunting. He is also an avid reader and writer and closely follows sports, particularly The University of Texas and the Houston Astros. He has been married to his wife, Barbara, for 47 years, and they have two children and three grandchildren.
