Alexis Foster
A native Houstonian, Alexis Foster has spent her law career practicing in the areas of commercial litigation, international arbitration, supply-chain, employment, contract, construction and health law, and as outside general counsel for several privately held companies.
Alexis began her legal pursuit at Baylor Law School, where she distinguished herself in both academics and advocacy. She earned a prestigious scholarship for academic excellence, served as an officer and editor of the Baylor Law Review, and was inducted into the Order of Barristers—a national organization recognizing exceptional achievement in oral and written advocacy. In Baylor’s highly competitive moot court competition, she earned the distinction of highest ranked female speaker.
After graduating cum laude with her J.D., Alexis was accepted into the LL.M program for Health Law at the University of Houston, one of the top programs in the country. She graduated summa cum laude and was subsequently awarded a post-doctorate fellowship. Leveraging her LL.M. expertise, Alexis advises clients on compliance with federally mandated reporting duties under the Medicare Secondary Payer Mandatory Reporting for Non-Group Health Plans and she has delivered presentations to national audiences on this topic.
Following her academic achievements, Alexis served as a law clerk and briefing attorney to the Honorable Justice Eva Guzman of the Supreme Court of Texas, the state’s highest civil court.
Over the last decade, Alexis has shifted her practice to focus primarily on representing domestic and international companies as both litigation and outside general counsel. She also advises on a broad range of pre-litigation matters such as lien perfection, contract negotiation, debt, domestic and international supply chain issues, commercial transportation, and matters related to the sale of goods under the UCC. Her litigation experience spans numerous complex areas, including pipeline failures, partnership disputes, restrictive covenants, misappropriation of trade secrets and non-compete claims, breaches of duty to defend and indemnify, fraud claims, FINRA violations, and violations of anti-kickback statutes and RICO laws.
In addition to her law practice, Alexis frequently publishes industry-relevant articles and speaks to professional groups and trade associations. In support of the industries she serves, she has also earned certifications of competency in both OCTG and steel pipe. This technical expertise enables her to deliver legal counsel that integrates both legal strategy and business insight.
